I saw Raees and Sarah today for my fist treatment with this practice. In the past I have had some questionable dentists who did work on my teeth without freezing them, so going to the dentist can be a bit scary for me. However they was so nice and reassuring and I didn't feel a thing. They were both so welcoming and kind and just really really nice people and put me totally at ease. I am so happy to have found such a fabulous dental practice! Lucky me!

Originally from the great city of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, I graduated from Newcastle Dental school in June 1991. My first post was in a rural dental practice in Kirkby Lonsdale, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales where I improved my skills and knowledge of general dental practice for nearly 7 years.

Looking for an opportunity to own my own dental practice, I joined Sharoe Green Dental Practice as an associate in March of 1998, knowing that the owner at the time was planning on selling the business and retiring within the next 2-3 years. I became Principal of the practice in October 2001 and ran the practice, along with my wife Lesley, until we became part of the Portman Dental Group in 2022.

During my time at Sharoe Green, I have continued to develop my skills as well as learn several other new ones along the way. I undertook a 12 month postgraduate course in Implantology at Trafford General Hospital and have been placing and restoring dental Implants for over 20 years. I also spent a bit of time at the world renowned Straumann Dental Institute in Bern, Switzerland where I gained insight from some of the world leaders in Implant Technology.

In 2008, I undertook training to provide Invisalign clear braces and now, 16 years later, have successfully treated over 900 patients using the Invisalign technique. I also completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Restorative & Cosmetic Dentistry at the University of Central Lancashire and also completed my MJDF (Member of the Joint Dental Faculties) examination

I still enjoy all aspects of general dentistry, but my greatest pleasure comes from using the skills I have learned from the above postgraduate experiences to help create patient smiles that improves their appearance and gives them new found confidence and greater self esteem. The best thing about dentistry is the people that I meet and some of the stories that they have to tell.

Outside of dentistry, away from the practice I enjoy spending time with my family. Lesley & I have 4 children between us and now have 5 grandchildren (all boys!!). We have a little miniature schnauzer called Pippa who makes sure I am up every morning in time to come to work, but doesn’t seem to know that I don’t work every day !! I am a big sports fan, particularly Cricket, Rugby Union & Golf. I played Rugby & Cricket until I was 40, but now it’s just the golf. I also have an electric mountain bike which gets me out and about on the moors near our home in Darwen, but also on holidays in places like the Lake District, Cornwall & The Isle of Wight.

As anyone who knows me will tell you, I am also a bit of a quiz geek. I have even been on “The Chase” and “Fifteen-to-one”. I regularly attend my local pub quiz and have even organised a regular lunchtime “Sharoe Green Dental Practice” Quiz for the team which is great for team bonding. If you ever have an appointment around 10.30 am, you can join in with me in answering the questions on Radio 2’s “Ten to the Top” Pop Quiz. (Unless I have my drill in your mouth at the time of course!)

After 33 years as a dentist, 26+ of them at Sharoe Green, I know the end of my career is on the horizon as retirement beckons. But until that time, I hope to continue meeting & treating the people, old & new that have made my career so rewarding.

You will also be able to complete your patient record, medical history and other forms via a patient portal sent to your email.

Completing this at home ensures it is all up to date prior to your visit.

New Patient Consultation

At your new patient consultation, your clinician will listen to your concerns and assess your oral health.

If required dental x-rays will be taken and you may have a dental scan and further dental photos.

Our modern technology allows our team to share your images and x-rays onto a large screen TV so that you are informed at every step when it comes to your treatment.

Your Tailored Treatment Plan

Your clinician will create your treatment plan specific to your requirements. This may include multiple options so that you can make an informed decision.

Our reception team can then support you with finance arrangements if required and book any relevant appointments.

If no further treatment is required we can book routine appointments and support with membership sign ups.
